Kerala Lottery — frequently asked questions

Weekly draws are held daily at 3:00 PM IST at Gorky Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram. Live numbers start appearing from about 2:55 PM on our result today page, and the department's full official result PDF is out by around 4:00–4:30 PM. Bumper draws are earlier, at 2:00 PM.

One per day: Samrudhi (SM) Sunday, Bhagyathara (BT) Monday, Sthree Sakthi (SS) Tuesday, Dhanalekshmi (DL) Wednesday, Karunya Plus (KN) Thursday, Suvarna Keralam (SK) Friday and Karunya (KR) Saturday. Each has its own chart and archive on this site.

The department restructured its weekly schemes in 2025: Samrudhi replaced Fifty-Fifty, Bhagyathara replaced Win-Win, Dhanalekshmi replaced Akshaya and Suvarna Keralam replaced Nirmal, while Sthree Sakthi, Karunya Plus and Karunya carried on. At the same time every weekly ticket moved to ₹50 and every weekly first prize became ₹1 crore — the full tier tables are on our prize-structure page.

Normally yes — seven weeklies, one per day. But the department occasionally cancels or postpones a draw, typically on national holidays (Independence Day, Republic Day). On such dates no result exists — any "result" you see for that date is fake — and tickets remain valid for the rescheduled draw announced by the department.

The two letters are the series; the six digits are the ticket number. Each draw sells tickets across many series. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes go to one exact series+number; most lower tiers are decided by the last four digits, matching across every series — which is why one draw has thousands of small winners.

Type your ticket number — or just its last 4 digits — into the checker on our result today page, or scan the QR code printed on the ticket. Before claiming anything, verify against the official gazette PDF from the Directorate — that document is the only legal authority.

The department never contacts winners — by phone, WhatsApp, SMS or email. Winners find out by checking the published result themselves. Any message asking a fee, bank details or an OTP to "release" a prize is fraud, full stop. Kerala lottery tickets are also never sold online — paper only, through authorised agents in Kerala. When in doubt, check the number on the official gazette and verify the physical ticket's QR code.

Sign the back of the ticket immediately, get self-attested copies of PAN and Aadhaar, and submit the original ticket with a claim form. Prizes up to ₹1 lakh are handled by District Lottery Offices; bigger prizes go to the Deputy Director / Director of State Lotteries at Vikas Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram — directly or through a bank. For a winner, 30 days from the draw — surrender the ticket within that window or the prize is forfeited. The 90-day figure some sites quote applies to agents presenting collected prize-winning tickets under the Kerala Paper Lotteries (Regulation) Rules, 2005. Don't rely on it as a player; claim immediately.

Prizes above ₹10,000 suffer TDS of 30% under Section 194B plus 4% cess — 31.2% effective — before you are paid. Crore-level prizes also attract surcharge, and agent commission is deducted from top prizes. Lottery income is taxed flat; slab benefits and 80C-style deductions don't apply. A weekly ticket is ₹50 (about ₹39 + 28% GST); bumper tickets cost more. The Kerala State Lottery has run since 1967 — the first state lottery in India — and funds welfare programmes, most famously the Karunya benevolent fund for medical treatment. Roughly a crore tickets are printed for a weekly draw across its series.
