Play responsibly
The Kerala State Lottery is run by the Government of Kerala, and for most players a ₹40 ticket is harmless entertainment that also funds public welfare. But a lottery is still gambling, and gambling can quietly stop being harmless. These are the rules we genuinely want our readers to follow.
The ground rules
- 18 or older. Lottery tickets are for adults only. Never buy a ticket for a minor, and never as a "gift" that a minor will scratch or check.
- Buy only from authorised agents and sellers in Kerala. The Kerala State Lottery is sold as paper tickets through authorised agents inside Kerala. Anyone selling "Kerala lottery tickets online", by WhatsApp, or outside the state is running a scam — the department does not sell tickets online.
- Set a budget before you buy, not after. Decide a monthly amount you can lose without it mattering, and treat every ticket as spent money, not as an investment.
- Never chase losses. Yesterday's ticket has no effect on today's draw. Buying more tickets after losing does not bring a win "due" — every draw starts from zero.
- The lottery is never income. The odds of a jackpot are around 1 in the tens of lakhs, and every 4-digit ending is a 1-in-10,000 chance. No pattern, guru, app or AI — including ours — changes those odds.
Warning signs worth taking seriously
Spending more than the budget you set; hiding ticket purchases from family; borrowing to buy tickets; feeling that a big win is "close" and must be chased; the lottery being the main thing you think about in a day. If any of these sound familiar, step away — talk to someone you trust, and consider speaking to a doctor or counsellor. Problem gambling is a recognised condition and help works.
